Horses Are Fast Asleep In Field

641

Just like us, animals need their fair share of sleep. Sleep is an integral part of regaining energy, clearing the brain of waste, and for helping to regulate our mood, memory, and clarity. We (animals included) often feel refreshed after getting the right amount of rest, ready to tackle the next day without a problem.

The idea of sleep sounds like such a beautiful and rejuvenating thing, but when one man walked out to check his pasture, his two horses were both fast asleep and snoring away loudly. The footage personally has me laughing almost to the point of tears!

So, in the video, the two horses are lying in the field and on the grass, participating in a little snoring session. For those who don’t know, yes, horses often do sleep standing up. However, when they need REM sleep — which for horses, the need is pretty minimal — they lie down.

Heck, if I didn’t know any better, I would have assumed the snoring horses were actually giving birth or something. I mean, they’re lying on their sides with their eyes partially open and letting out atrocious noises, almost like they’re in pain. Okay, so I obviously don’t have experience with horses.

To be honest, I have never heard any animal snore in person beside cats. So, when I watched the video the man filmed of these two beautiful animals, I thought several times it was the man who was making the noises behind the camera or some sort of voiceover he did. It was odd, to say the least.

My favorite part of the footage is when the cameraman goes from one snoring horse to the next. It looks like the two fellas got tuckered out at the same time!

I think if I were to describe how snoring horses sound to someone who never heard one, I could describe it as a caveman pushing a heavy boulder in slow motion. Ooouuuggghh. Am I wrong?!

I won’t lie, I thought the sound of the sleeping horses in the clip was a bit disturbing considering it sounded quite human-like, but in the end, I do think it’s adorable.
